As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), Skills Strategies International must ensure our training and assessment services complies with relevant legislation and industry standards, including the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015.

Rhys Williams Mayor of Mandurah

As one of the youngest Mayors in WA history and 2015 Young West Australian of the Year, Rhys knows a thing or two about what can empower young people!

At the age of 17, Mayor Williams founded a youth development charity, and over the period of a decade, led a number of initiatives focused on young West Australians. For this work, he was recognised in 2015 as the Young West Australian of the Year.

His passion for facilitating community-led solutions to address local social and economic challenges has fed into his role as Mayor, with a strong focus on economic diversification, community wellbeing and enhancing community pride and aspiration.

Craig Hassed Mindfulness Expert

Professor at the Centre for Consciousness and Contemplative Studies, Monash University. A prolific author, Craig is an expert on how to utilise mindfulness in health, educational, government and corporate contexts.

He is patron of Meditation Australia, a regular media commentator, and co-authored the world’s two leading mindfulness massive open online courses. In 2019 Craig was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to Medicine. He will be speaking to us about mindfulness in learning and teaching so be prepared to turn off your phones!

Bethan Winn Critical Thinking & Communications Trainer

Bethan Winn has been an international education for two decades and is a sought- after facilitator, speaker and director – delivering tailored, transformative training to professionals, government, academic and corporate audiences.

Featured in The Sydney Morning Herald, the ABC, The West Australian and countless podcasts and industry magazines, Bethan is passionate about sharing critical and creative thinking skills and enhancing communication and connection in relatable, pragmatic and playful ways.

Steve Hall Jobs and Skills Council for the Energy, Gas and Renewables Sector.

With over 34 years in the electrotechnology industry, Steve’s experiences as an electrician, contractor, business owner and manager across industry and the vocational education and training sector inform his holistic approach to educating the energy workforce. His current role builds on his work with the Industry Skills Council and Skills Services Organisations.

From his lived experience as an apprentice, to his rewarding career in RTO management, his lifelong learning journey is not only something he embraces but drives him to extend those same opportunities to the future generation of energy workers.

Joshua Patrick Youth Advocate and Motivational Speaker

16-year-old ATAR student Joshua passionately supports and advocates for disadvantaged youth. A TedX Youth speaker at just 14 years old, he is now a member of the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition, a National SWAN Sibling Ambassador, a maths tutor, a Carers Australia Media Ambassador, and a devoted carer to his sister.

Joshua is also involved in a Civic Engagement Youth Advisory Group and a youth-led initiative tackling cyber bullying. A perfect example of empowering our youth, he is using his experience of adversity to enact change – playing a pivotal role in guiding resources and initiatives to help others.
