CHC40221 Certificate IV in School based Education Support

This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist teachers and support student learning in a range of classroom settings under the guidance of a teacher or other educational professional. At this level, workers may be involved in the facilitation of learning for a range of instructional groupings, including for those students in need of additional support. In these roles, the education support worker sources and analyses information from diverse sources, may work with limited direct supervision and could provide guidance to other workers.

Education support workers work mainly with students in classroom settings in primary or secondary schools, as defined by State/Territory legislation.

To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of at least 100 hours of work in a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students, within at least one school in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

The CHC40221 Certificate IV in School based education support is currently delivered virtually via Microsoft Teams so you will need a laptop/computer, working camera and microphone and good internet access.

Completion of this qualification depends on each individual student, including their availability and previous experience.

Regular submission of assessments is a requirement of this course. A training and assessment schedule will be discussed with you and provided by your Trainer/Assessor.

Tuition Fee: $0 (Covered under Fee Free for 2023 and 2024 Funding)

The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.

WA funded places (DTWD Traineeships and PIT) are available only to permanent residents and holders of select visa subclasses. Non-residents must pay full fee for service.

You are eligible for a guaranteed training place if you have left school and are:

an Australian citizen; or a permanent visa holder; or
must be at least 15 years old; If you are under 18 years of age, you must have a Department of Education (DoE) Notice of Arrangement
For proof of eligibility you will need to provide prior to the commencement of training, evidence of citizenship or residency. Evidence could include:
an Australian birth certificate; or a current Australian passport; or a current New Zealand passport; or a Naturalisation certificate; or a green Medicare card.
