Overview

The free skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide entry level support and basic client care for a range of roles and purposes within the aged care and disability support sectors. The support provided in client care will be predominantly non-direct.

 

Course Content

You will learn to care for others in an era of COVID-19 infection control. This skill set will give you the knowledge of the new regulations workers need to manage infection control while caring for others.

You will organise provide and monitor support services for individuals; develop safe work practices when providing direct client care; learn compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures; as well as ensuring your own health and safety and the safety of others in your work environment.

 

Completing this free skill set will be recognised by a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally accredited units of competency:

  • CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
  • HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

 

Course Delivery

Delivery options:

  • Face-to-face training at our Mandurah training centre
  • Virtual classroom training using Microsoft Teams

 

Delivery includes:

  • 6 week course
  • 3 hours per week of face-to-face or virtual classroom training
  • Access to our online learning portal where you can complete learning and assessment in your own time
  • Industry expert trainer/assessor support
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL) options available

 

Course Duration

6 – 12 weeks.

Completion of this course depends on each individual student and when all assessments are successfully completed.

 

Cost

This course is free to eligible through Jobs and Skills WA Lower fees, local skills initiative. All fees are 100% subsidised by the WA State Government, through Jobs and Skills WA, so that there is no cost to you. For more information visit Job and Skills WA.

The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.

Eligibility

This skill set is free to all residents in Western Australia.

You must be 18 years of age or older.

School-based students are ineligible to be enrolled in this skill set.

 

Entry Requirements

You must have current employment in, or access to, a healthcare workplace to complete your assessment.

 

Course Outcomes

Further education:

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (this skill set provides credit transfers for this qualification and others)
