This qualification reflects the role of individuals who use a range of well-developed tourism service, sales or operational skills and sound knowledge of industry operations to coordinate tourism services. Using discretion and judgement, they work with some independence and under limited supervision using plans, policies and procedures to guide work activities.

This qualification provides a pathway to work in many tourism industry sectors and for a diversity of employers including tour operators, inbound tour operators, visitor information centres, attractions, cultural and heritage sites, and any small tourism business.

This qualification allows for multi-skilling and for specialisation in office-based roles involving the planning and coordination of tourism services, or roles in the field where products are delivered.

Course Duration

Approximately 1 year depending on enrolment type.

Completion depends on each individual student, including their availability and previous experience.

Regular submission of assessments is a requirement of this course. A training and assessment schedule will be discussed with you and provided by your Trainer/Assessor.

Course Fees

This course is half price under the Jobs and Skills WA Lower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Fees are capped for Western Australian residents at $1,200 and $400 if you’re aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Fees apply for non-eligible students.

Funding Eligibility

$400 annual concession rate (plus resource fees) applies to:
Persons aged 15—24 years at the time of enrolment (excluding students enrolled at school)
Persons and dependents of persons receiving JobKeeper payment
Persons and dependents of persons in receipt of services from one of the following Commonwealth support or employment services programs:
     – Jobactive
     – Online Employment Services
     – ParentsNext
Persons and dependents of persons receiving the Youth Allowance, AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY
Persons and dependents of persons holding:
     – a pensioner concession card or Health Care Card; or
     – a Repatriation Health Benefits Card issued by the Department of Veterans’ Affairs
Dependents of persons who are inmates of a custodial institution

$1,200 annual non-concession rate (plus resource fees) applies to all other WA residents.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal requirements however it is strongly recommended that you have current employment or access to a workplace to complete assessments.

You will need a computer with internet access to complete online components of this course.
