This skill set is aimed at those who operate a small business or are seeking an administration support position in a small business.

It will prepare you for operating a small business in a wide range of industries, whether you plan to work in an administrative role or you are running your own business.

 

Course Content

This skill set will prepare you for operating a small business in a wide range of industries, whether you plan to work in an administrative role or you are running (or planning to run) your own business.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Design and produce business documents and publications
  • Digitally design and develop text-based documents
  • Develop spreadsheets through the use of both cloud-based and non-cloud based applications
  • Identify financial requirements of a business including profit targets, cash flow projections and Strategies to gather financial support
  • Understand workplace health and safety (WHS) legislation and its application to safe work practices

 

Completing this free skill set will be recognised by a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally accredited units of competency:

  • BSBITU306 Design and produce business documents
  • BSBITU313 Design and produce digital text documents
  • BSBITU314 Design and produce spreadsheets
  • BSBSMB402 Plan small business finances
  • BSBWHS307 Apply knowledge of WHS legislation in the workplace
  • ICTWEB201 Use social media tools for collaboration and engagement

 

Delivery Methods

Delivery options:

  • Face-to-face training at our Mandurah training centre
  • Virtual classroom training using Microsoft Teams

 

Delivery includes:

  • 6 week course
  • 3 hours per week of face-to-face or virtual classroom training
  • Access to our online learning portal where you can complete learning and assessment in your own time
  • Industry expert trainer/assessor support
  • Recognition of prior learning (RPL) options available

 

Course Duration

6 – 12 weeks.

Completion of this course depends on each individual student and when all assessments are successfully completed.

 

Cost

This course is free to eligible students through Jobs and Skills WA Lower fees, local skills initiative. All fees are 100% subsidised by the WA State Government, through Jobs and Skills WA, so that there is no cost to you. For more information visit Job and Skills WA.

The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.

Eligibility

This skill set is free to all residents in Western Australia.

You must be 15 years of age or older.

School-based students are ineligible to be enrolled in this skill set.
