This skill set will allow you to upskill in organisational infection prevention and control policies and procedures. It is suitable for people who require the skills and knowledge to decrease the risk and transmission of infection, whilst carrying out your daily duties.
These skills and knowledge can be applied to specific healthcare industry needs such as direct client care, community care, community services, in-home care, disability care and other work environments where you provide support and care to individuals or groups of people.
This skill set includes the following unit of competency:
• HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
You will learn:
• Introduction to infection control
• Chain of infection and disease transmission
• Breaking the chain of infection
• Contamination and cleaning
• Hazards, risks, responsibilities and reporting
Delivery options:
• Face-to-face training
• Virtual classroom training
• Online
• Workplace
Face-to-face training consists of a 1 day workshop followed by online learning and support and workplace assessment. See below for course dates.
12 – 25 hours of learning and assessment.
Total duration: 1 month (approximately).
Completion of this course depends on each individual student and when all assessments are successfully completed.
This course is free through Jobs and Skills WA Skills Ready initiative. All fees are 100% subsidised by the WA State Government so that there is no cost to you.
