Develop the skills to get a job and find out more about the industry before you commit to a full qualification.   

This free skill set addresses the skills and knowledge required to provide entry level support and basic client care for a range of roles and purposes within the aged care and disability support sectors. The support provided in client care will be predominantly non-direct.

You will learn to care for others in an era of COVID-19 infection control. This skill set will give you the knowledge of the new regulations workers need to manage infection control while caring for others.

You will organise provide and monitor support services for individuals; develop safe work practices when providing direct client care; learn compliance with infection prevention and control policies and procedures; as well as ensuring your own health and safety and the safety of others in your work environment.

Course Content

This skill set consists of three (3) units of competency:
CHCCCS015 Provide individualised support
HLTINF001 Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures
HLTWHS002 Follow safe work practices for direct client care

Delivery Methods

The following delivery methods are available:

Blending Learning (Classroom and Online):
Training delivered at our Mandurah training centre
 Sessions delivered over 6 weeks
Access to our online learning platform where you can complete your learning and assessment at any time
Dedicated industry expert trainer/assessor support

Course Duration

6 weeks delivery.

Course duration depends on each individual student and when all assessments are successfully completed.

Learners are expected to engage in self-paced study together with class participation to complete the course.   

Course Fees

This course is free under the Jobs and Skills WA Skills Ready initiative. All fees are 100% subsidised by the WA State Government so that there is no cost to you. Fees apply for non-eligible students. Fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment.

Funding Eligibility

Who is eligible
All residents in Western Australia over the age of 18 years old.

This includes temporary residents holding one of the following visa types:
 Holders of a sub-class 309, 444, 785, 790, 820 or 826 visa
 Secondary holders of a temporary visa of sub-class 457
 Holders of a Bridging Visa E (subclasses 050 and 051) where the visa holder has made a valid application for a visa of subclass 785 or 790

Who is not eligible
Persons living outside of Western Australia, or Australia, are not eligible
International students and people on a student visa are not eligible
Students who are still at school are not eligible, and cannot enrol in the free skill sets

Entry Requirements

You need a computer and internet access if you are completing this course online.

Course Recognition

This skill set provides credit transfers for nationally recognised qualifications, including CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.
