This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist teachers and support student learning in a range of classroom settings. They complete general administrative as well as operational tasks to support students with learning under the guidance of a teacher or other educational professional. Work requires use of discretion and judgement within the boundaries of established policies and procedures.
Education support workers work mainly with students in classroom settings in primary or secondary schools, as defined by State/Territory legislation.
To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of least 100 hours of work in a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students, within at least one school in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Completion of this qualification depends on each individual student, including their availability and previous experience.
Regular submission of assessments is a requirement of this course. A training and assessment schedule will be discussed with you and provided by your Trainer/Assessor.
This course is half price under the Jobs and Skills WALower Fees, Local Skills initiative. Fees are capped for Western Australian residents at $1,200 and $400 if you’re aged 15—24 or eligible for a concession. Fees apply for non-eligible students.
The Student tuition fees are indicative only and are subject to change given individual circumstances at enrolment. Additional fees may apply such as Student service and resource fees.
You are required to undertake a 100 hour supervised work placement.
Work placement requirements include:
• Working with Children Check; and
• Department of Education Police Clearance; or
• Confidential Statutory Declaration for students under 18 years of age
You require a workplace as per the above information.
